l’Aquarelle - oil on Panel, 230mm x 180mm © 2012

The rather fun little watercolour in this oil painting was of a “Burning Embers” Begonia which was covered in loads of the most vibrantly orange flowers I’d ever seen and which, under the combined might of the wind and my neglect, lasted for all of about a week.
In that time I was able to use the plant as reference for some photographs & to throw some watercolour about on a piece of paper in as haphazard and splashy a way as I could, specifically to give myself a good challenge when painting the resulting watercolour in oils.
